The Primary DXDiag Shortcut

The standard way to open DXDiag via keyboard is using the Windows Run dialog:

1. Press Windows key + R simultaneously. The Run dialog box appears.
2. Type dxdiag (all lowercase, no spaces).
3. Press Enter.

Total time from start to DXDiag window open: approximately 3 to 5 seconds. This is the fastest method available without creating a custom shortcut.

Alternative Keyboard Method — Windows Search

On Windows 10 and Windows 11, you can also use the Search shortcut:

1. Press Windows key + S to open the search bar.
2. Type dxdiag.
3. Press Enter or click the result.

This method is slightly slower than Windows + R because the search index needs a moment to return results. Windows + R is faster for experienced users.
