How to Save a DXDiag Report as a Text File

Open DXDiag with Windows + R, type dxdiag. Wait for it to fully load (the progress bar disappears). Click Save All Information in the lower-left corner. Choose where to save it and click Save. The file is named DxDiag.txt and opens in any text editor.

Save DXDiag Report from Command Prompt

You can also save a DXDiag report silently from Command Prompt without opening the GUI. This is useful for automating system snapshots:

dxdiag /t C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Desktop\DxDiag.txt

Replace the path after /t with your preferred save location. The file is created and DXDiag exits without showing a window.

To save as XML:

The DxDiag.txt file is a plain text document organized into sections:
