What Is New in DXDiag on Windows 11
The DXDiag tool on Windows 11 shows the same information as on Windows 10, with a few additions relevant to Windows 11 hardware:
- The System tab shows Windows 11 as the operating system and displays the Windows 11 build number.
- The Display tab may show DirectX 12 Ultimate feature levels if your GPU supports them (NVIDIA RTX series and AMD RDNA 2 or later).

Finding DXDiag Through Windows 11 Settings
DXDiag is not accessible directly through the Windows 11 Settings app. Settings > System > About gives you a basic overview of your PC specs, but it does not show driver versions, DirectX feature levels, or the detailed hardware information that DXDiag provides.
For complete system diagnostics on Windows 11, always use DXDiag via Windows + R rather than the Settings app.
DXDiag vs Windows 11 System Information Tool
Windows 11 includes another diagnostic tool called System Information (msinfo32). The two tools serve different purposes:
| Feature | DXDiag | System Information (msinfo32) |
|---|---|---|
| GPU details and driver version | Yes — detailed | Basic only |
| DirectX version and features | Yes | No |
| Audio device details | Yes | Limited |
| Complete hardware inventory | No — DirectX components only | Yes — everything |
| Export as text file | Yes | Yes |
Use DXDiag when checking GPU, audio, and DirectX information. Use msinfo32 when you need a complete inventory of all hardware and system components.
